How WeCureUs began
Randy spent ten years without a diagnosis. He didn’t initially look the part. He was active, appeared healthy, and the connection between what he was experiencing and MS simply was not made. That has changed with time. It is a pattern that will be familiar to many people reading this. The disease does not always present the way the textbook expects.
The Stromes understand firsthand what happens inside a doctor’s visit in a way that goes beyond any clinical record. What gets asked and what does not. What ends up documented and what does not. How a test result gets explained, and how often the explanation is incomplete or absent entirely. What does get recorded tends to be broad and generic. The same questions are not asked of every patient, in every appointment, across every institution. What surfaces in one visit may never be asked again. What matters to one physician may not occur to the next. The result is data that cannot be connected even when it exists, because it was never collected in any consistent form. Even if you wanted to link it, it is not there.
The high rate of MS misdiagnosis is impacting real patients and clouding the studies that are meant to help them. Recent scientific advances, including what is now understood about the role of EBV, about ancestral risk factors, about progression that does not appear on imaging, are not reflected in how the disease is recorded or tracked. The data that exists is incomplete, unconnected, and not keeping pace with what science is learning.

Randy and Chantalle founded Wiredsport in 1993. By 1997 they were managing online platforms and handling user data for a growing customer base. They know what it takes to build something at scale that people trust with information that matters to them. That experience is built into WeCureUs at every level.
Over time it became clear that the current system was not going to change on its own. No pharmaceutical company is positioned to build what is needed without a conflict of interest. No hospital system can do it without institutional constraints. No technology company can do it with the depth of understanding this disease demands. Existing patient voice platforms do not have the data depth, flexibility, or capability for the kind of enrichment this problem requires. WeCureUs was built by the community, for the community, and it is already here.
